All registered teams are placed into groups for a full round-robin stage. Every team plays all others in its group.
| Total Teams | Groups | Teams per Group | Matches per Team |

Why Two Legs for Cup R16?
The Cup R16 two-leg format ensures both championships involve the same total number of knockout matches per team: Cup teams play 2 legs (R16) + QF + SF + Final = 5 knockout matches. Plate teams (48-team season) play R32 + R16 + QF + SF + Final = 5 knockout matches. This keeps the competition fair and equal in depth for all participants.
Mixed Category
4.1 Format
- • Expected 12–16 teams for Season 1.
- • Format will be Groups + Knockouts. Exact group configuration and bracket structure will be confirmed and published after the registration deadline closes.
- • All match format, scoring, tiebreaker, and walkover rules below apply equally to the Mixed category.
4.2 Eligibility Reminder
- • Each Mixed team must consist of one male and one female player.
- • A player registered in the Men’s category may also register in Mixed with a different partner.
Match Format
5.1 Standard Match (all rounds except Cup R16)
- • Best of 3 Sets. First team to win 2 sets wins the match.
- • Each set is first to 6 games. At 5–5, sets continue until one team leads by 2 (i.e., 7–5).
- • At 6–6 in any set: play a tiebreak to 7 points (must win by 2).
- • If sets are tied 1–1, a full 3rd set is played (no super tiebreak).
- • Scoring: traditional 15 / 30 / 40 / Game.
- • After the second deuce: Golden Point applies.
5.2 Cup R16 (Two-Leg Aggregate)
- • Each R16 tie consists of two matches played as Best of 3 Sets each (one home, one away).
- • The team with the higher aggregate sets/games score across both legs advances.
- • If the aggregate is exactly equal after both legs, see §6 tiebreaker rules.
5.3 Service Rules
- • All serves must be underarm, ball struck at or below waist level.
- • The ball must bounce once before being struck.
- • The server must keep at least one foot on the ground while serving.
- • The serve must land in the diagonal service box on the opponent’s side.
- • If the ball lands in the correct service box and hits the side cage first, the serve is out. If it hits the back glass after the bounce, it remains in play.
- • Both non-serving players must remain behind the service line until the serve is taken.
- • Each server is allowed two serve attempts.
5.4 Glass Play Rules
- • A player may let the ball bounce and rebound off the glass before returning it.
- • A player may hit the ball against their own glass to send it to the opponent’s side.
Scoring & Tiebreakers
6.1 Match Points

0

Walkover (given)
−3
There are no draws in this format — every match produces a winner.
6.2 Tiebreaker Order
When two or more teams are equal on points (in the group ranked table, or in a knockout tie), the following order is applied:
- 1 Points — total match points accumulated
- 2 Sets Difference — (Sets Won) − (Sets Lost) across all group matches
- 3 Games Difference — (Games Won) − (Games Lost) across all group matches
- 4 Registration Order — team that registered earlier ranks higher (final tiebreak)
6.3 Cup R16 Aggregate Tiebreaker
If the aggregate is level after both Cup R16 legs, the winner is determined in the same tiebreaker order: Sets Difference (across both legs combined) → Games Difference (across both legs combined) → Registration Order.
Walkover Policy
Strict Walkover Rules — Zero Tolerance
Walkovers are taken very seriously. Teams must honour all scheduled matches. The penalty is severe to ensure no team gives a walkover without consequence.
7.1 Points Consequences
Team Giving Walkover
−3 points
Deducted from their standings total
Team Receiving Walkover
+3 points
Awarded as a win in their standings
7.2 Walkover Procedures
- • If you cannot play a scheduled match, notify your opponents as early as possible and inform the admin.
- • Walkovers are recorded with sets/games as 0–0 for the giving team (no sets difference benefit for the receiving team).
- • Evidence of communication (screenshots) may be requested by admin for any dispute.
- • Repeated walkovers may result in further sanctions or removal from the competition.
Court Booking & Scheduling
8.1 Team Responsibility
- • Teams are fully responsible for scheduling, booking, and paying for their own courts.
- • Matches may be played at any venue as long as both teams are in agreement.
- • Court fees are shared equally among all 4 players and must be settled before play begins.
- • The league does not arrange or pay for courts.
8.2 Accessing Opponent Details
- • All opponent contact information is available directly from your team dashboard on the BD Padel platform.
- • Court booking procedures and recommended venues are also listed on your team page.
- • Respond to match coordination messages within 24 hours.
8.3 Score Submission
- • Both teams must submit the match score through their respective team dashboards immediately after the match.
- • If both submissions match, the result is instantly verified.
- • Disputed scores will be reviewed and decided by admin — admin’s decision is final.
- • Format example: “6-4, 3-6, 7-5” (your team’s score listed first).
Code of Conduct & Sportsmanship
- • Respect — treat opponents, venues, and the sport with respect at all times.
- • Fair play — call your own lines honestly. On a close call that both teams are genuinely uncertain about, replay the point.
- • Disputes — resolve calmly on court; escalate to admin only if unresolved. Admin’s decision is final.
- • Communication — keep all match coordination communications professional and timely.
- • Venue rules — follow all venue-specific rules and regulations.
- • Any form of aggression, abuse, or serious unsporting behaviour may result in removal from the competition.
National Ranking Points
10.1 How Points Are Awarded
- • Points are awarded per player — both members of a team earn the same points based on their finishing position.
- • The Cup Championship and Plate Championship are treated as two separate events — both the Cup Champion and the Plate Champion earn “Winner” points.
- • Points contribute to each player’s BD Padel National Rankings over a rolling 12-month window.
- • Rankings will be updated and published after the season concludes.
