Americano Tournament Rules & Regulations
Americano is a fun, social padel format where partners rotate each round. It's the perfect way to meet other players and compete individually while playing doubles!
Americano is a rotating-partner doubles format where you play WITH different partners each round and compete AGAINST different opponents. Points are accumulated individually, making it both social and competitive.
- 1. Rotating Partners: Every round you get a new partner - play with everyone!
- 2. Individual Points: Your team's score each match adds to YOUR total
- 3. Social + Competitive: Meet other players while competing for the top spot
- 4. No Partner Needed: Register individually - we pair you each round
Important: Points-Based Scoring (NOT Traditional Tennis)
Americano uses simple point counting - each ball won = 1 point. No games, no sets, no 15-30-40 scoring!
Total Points Per Match:
Time Limits:
- 10 minutes or 20 minutes per match (set by tournament admin)
- A fixed total of points (16, 24, or 32) are played between both teams combined
- If time runs out before all points are played, the scores at that moment are final
Individual Points Accumulation
Your team's score in each match = your individual points for that match
| Match | Your Team | Opponents | Your Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Match 1 (24 pts) | 14 | 10 | +14 |
| Match 2 (32 pts) | 18 | 14 | +18 |
| Match 3 (24 pts, time expired) | 11 | 9 | +11 |

Frequently Asked Questions
No problem! Americano is beginner-friendly. The admin will explain everything at check-in, and the simple point-based scoring is easy to pick up. It's a great format for your first tournament!
No! That's the beauty of Americano - you register as an individual. Partners are assigned to you each round, so you get to play with different people throughout the tournament.
The tournament system handles this automatically. Some players may have a bye (rest round) or the admin may adjust the schedule. You'll still play the same number of matches as everyone else.
Tournament duration depends on the number of participants and rounds. Typically 2-4 hours. Check the specific tournament details for estimated duration and plan to stay for the entire event.
Please inform the admin immediately. Leaving early affects scheduling for other players. Your remaining matches may be forfeited, and you won't be eligible for ladder qualification. We understand emergencies happen - just communicate with the organizers.
If there's a disagreement about the score, stop play and call the tournament admin immediately. The admin's decision is final. To prevent disputes, announce the score clearly after each point and keep both teams tracking throughout the match.
